Our Mission
We are committed to advancing meaningful, disease-specific pediatric brain cancer research, improving treatment options, and supporting families navigating these unimaginable journeys. Our goal is to help ensure that no child’s care is limited by outdated science, lack of coordination, or insufficient resources.
Why This Matters
The Mason Atlas Foundation was created in loving memory of Mason — a bright, brave child whose life was taken far too soon by pediatric brain cancer. Mason’s journey revealed both the incredible strength of children facing these diagnoses and the heartbreaking gaps that still exist in pediatric cancer care and research.
Pediatric brain cancers remain among the deadliest childhood cancers, yet research in this area is profoundly underfunded. Too many of the treatments available to children today are adaptations of adult therapies developed decades ago — therapies that were never designed with developing brains and growing bodies in mind. Families are often left with limited options, devastating decisions, and uncertain outcomes. The Mason Atlas Foundation exists to change that.
Our Focus
Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Research:
Pediatric brain cancers remain among the deadliest childhood cancers, yet research in this area is profoundly underfunded. Too many treatments available to children today are adapted from adult therapies developed decades ago. The Mason Atlas Giving Fund is committed to supporting meaningful, disease-specific research aimed at improving outcomes and expanding treatment options for children.
Toward a Pediatric Integrated Cancer Service:
In the United States, children with rare pediatric brain cancers may be treated at hospitals that lack the specialized experience and infrastructure required to manage these complex diseases. Inspired by Mason’s journey, the Mason Atlas Giving Fund seeks to support efforts that move the United States toward a more coordinated, experience-driven model of pediatric cancer care—one that prioritizes safety, outcomes, and families.
